Hungary posts EUR 605m trade surplus in October
Budapest, December 23 (MTI) – Hungary posted a trade surplus of 605 million euros in October, according to a second reading of data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday.
The surplus was up by 322 million euros from the same month a year earlier. Exports climbed 9.5 percent in the twelve months to 8.151 billion euros in October and imports rose 6.3 percent to 7.545 billion euros.
Exports in euro terms picked up from a growth of 6.5 percent in the twelve months to September to 8.5 percent, while the pace of import growth slowed sharply from 8.6 percent in September to 4.4 percent in October.
In January-October, the trade surplus reached 6.767 billion euros, up 1.448 billion euros from the same period last year. Exports rose by 7.4 percent to 75.807 billion euros and imports increased 5.8 percent to 69.040 billion euros. About 77 percent of Hungary’s imports came from other European Union countries in October and 79 percent of exports went to EU member states.
