Hungary should look for new EU funding channels, says commissioner
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary should learn “a new method of bidding for EU funding” in order to participate successfully in competition-boosting programmes for direct funding from Brussels, the ministerial commissioner at the National Development Ministry said on Saturday.
Antal Kiss told public news channel M1 the the EU has a budget of 130 billion euros for programmes aimed at improving its own competitiveness, and these funding opportunities were open to Hungarians living beyond the borders as well. New methods and a high quality of bids are necessary to succeed at these tenders, so the government has organised training courses in Budapest to help success. As opposed to operative programmes, which are expected to disappear after 2020 when Hungary reaches a higher level of development, these other funding channels will still be open, he said.
