Hungary signs cooperation agreement with Sudan

Budapest, May 11 (MTI) – The farm ministry state secretary signed a cooperation agreement with his Sudanese counterpart on strengthening bilateral trade and R+D ties in farming and the food industry, the ministry said on Thursday.

Hungary is interested in cooperation in veterinary and plant health, the seed and fodder sector, the processing industry and slaughterhouse technology. Hungarian researchers will also benefit from Sudanese experience in climate adaptation, István Nagy said after talks with senior officials in Khartoum.

Sudan and Hungary are both potential food exporters that would greatly benefit from a boost to the local processing industry, Nagy said. Hungarian research institutes and companies have expressed interest in forging business ties in milk processing, slaughterhouse technology, stock administration and farm machinery, the state secretary said.

Nagy also met Prime Minister and First Vice President Bakri Hassan Salih.
