Brussels, January 18 (MTI) – Macedonia “has done a lot” to earn the European Union’s acceleration of integration talks, Hungary’s foreign minister said after an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
Speaking before the formal meeting of the ministers, Peter Szijjarto said Europe “owes a lot” to Macedonia for its efforts in stemming the flow of migrants into the EU’s territory.
As a non-EU member state, Macedonia “has taken on a far more positive role” in managing the migrant crisis than several member states, who should have played an active role in the quick resolution of the crisis, have, Szijjarto said.
