Budapest, July 23 (MTI) – After a weeklong heatwave with daily highs reaching 37-38 degrees Hungary is to face tropical weather conditions in the next few days, the national weather service said.
Intense summer heat pulling in from the south and southwest will continue to grip the country with humidity increasing day by day, the service said.

Water temperatures of Lake Balaton, the largest and most frequented holiday resort in western Hungary, measured around 30 degrees on Thursday.
UV-B radiation levels will stay high, at around 7.7, and the concentrations of ozone in the air will increase, conditions that will add to the burden of heat.
Several measures have been taken by authorities and services. National railways MAV conducts regular inspection of rail tracks to take measures to prevent deformation, if need be, the company said. The national disaster management authority released a list of air-conditioned facilities accessible to the public.
At Hungaroring, where the Formula One Budapest Grand Prix will take place near the capital over the weekend, machines will stand by to sprinkle race cars, a local disaster management spokesman said.
The zoo in Nyiregyhaza in eastern Hungary has ensured cold-enough climate to be enjoyed by the polar bears in their caves, while the mammals are fed by titbits cooled on ice, the zoo said.
The zoo in Veszprem in western Hungary ensures regular showers to the animals and has set up misting machines for cooling visitors.
A cool-down with showers and thunderstorms is expected first early next week, according to the weather service.
