Hungary’s Integrity Authority on Friday said it has received 24 applications from non-governmental actors to its anti-corruption working group.

Under the law establishing the authority, the body has until 1 December to select the ten non-governmental experts or representatives of civil organisations that will make up the anti-corruption working group along with government officials, it noted. The authority said it began assessing the applications on Friday following the expiration of the 24 November deadline for submitting them.

The anti-corruption working group will act as the Integrity Authority’s independent analytical, advisory and decision support body. Besides its chairperson, it will have ten members representing state bodies and ten representing non-governmental actors. Parliament passed the law on establishing the Integrity Authority as an autonomous public institution to investigate fraud, conflict of interest, corruption and other crimes in connection with the use of European Union funds in Hungary on 4 October.
