Budapest (MTI) – Russian energy giant Gazprom CEA Alexei Miller and Hungarian Ambassador to Russia Janos Balla held talks in Moscow on Monday on Hungary’s safe gas supply during the forthcoming winter.

The 700 million cubic metres of Russian natural gas stored in Hungarian underground facilities provide another guarantee for safe gas supply, Gazprom said in a statement.

Miller and Balla exchanged views on gas transit via Hungary and progress in preparations for the construction of the South Stream pipeline.

Once completed, from 2018 the pipeline is planned to deliver 63 billion cubic metres of gas to the countries involved in the project, the company said.

Last year Gazprom delivered 6 billion cubic metres of gas to Hungary.
