One of Europe’s most innovative Money Museums to be inaugurated soon in Budapest

One of Europe’s most innovative Money Museums is under construction in Budapest.

The museum bears the full name of Hungarian National Bank (HNB) Supervisory Centre and Money Museum and will be located in the former Post Palace on Széll Kálmán Square. As their official website says, the museum is unique in Europe.

The Money Museum will be Hungary’s new educational experience centre. It has been designed using the most advanced technology available today.

The building

The former Post Palace is a monumental heritage and has undergone a complete renovation in recent years.

The building of the Money Museum is an architectural marvel. The contractors have developed a specific restoration plan for the restoration of the façade, as well as for the carpentry, masonry, and wrought-iron work.

Along with the restoration, the construction of the exhibition and experience area is also underway.

The inside of the museum

The security of the building is also very important: it will hold the large coin collection of the HNB and a real gold bar. According to the museum’s website, gold will play an outstanding role in the exhibitions and will appear in several forms. For example, at the start of the exhibition, visitors will see a thinly stretched golden thread in a display case. This thread then steps out of the case and shows the route of the exhibition as a strip of light on the floor.

The museum’s main task will be to explain the basic rules of using money and how economic processes work.
