International clothing store comes to Hungary

According to Telex, the international fashion store, Primark announced the opening of its first store in Hungary. It will be located in Budapest’s Arena Mall, close to the Keleti Railway Station, a few minutes walk from the Keleti Railway Station Metro Station. The fast-fashion giant will open its doors in the next financial year, beginning on 16 September and ending on 15 September 2024. If everything goes according to plan, we can go for a shopping spree in the first Hungarian Primark store next autumn.

Hungary will be the sixth country in Central-Eastern Europe and 17th worldwide where the Irish company will expand. It’s now operating 416 stores across 15 countries in the European continent and the United States. Hungary will be the 17th country they will conquer. The operator will be Associated British Foods, which plans to open a new store in Slovakia and 7 more in the United States, Telex wrote.

In the company’s press release, they said last Christmas was a financial success. They believe in excellent quality for a competitive price, providing an attractive experience for their regular and new customers. They added they would like to open 1 million sqm of new retail area to expand their network in the next financial year.

No need to travel to Vienna anymore to shop at Primark

Regarding the store opening in Hungary, Maciej Podwojski, Primark’s Central-Eastern European sales director, said that the Arena Mall made a perfect location. Their Hungarian customers will be pleased with the unique business concept of Primark, offering quality fashion products for competitive prices. Mr Podwojski added that the reception of their stores in the CEE region was exceptionally positive, and they expect the same in Hungary. “We believe our Hungarian customers will like our offer”, the sales director asserted.

Telex wrote that Primark is very popular among Hungarians. For example, several travel agencies organise bus travels to their Vienna store from Budapest for Hungarian customers. Interestingly, Primark (Facebook) breaks records, even though it does not have an online store.

The reasons behind their success may be the low prices, huge offers and their winning marketing strategy. Quality differs, and most products last only one or two seasons. However, many still think it’s worth the trip to neighbouring Austria because of the huge bargains.
