Hungary, Serbia will get energy supplies, says Russian spokesman

Speaking to reporters in Moscow during a press briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia maintains contacts with Serbia and Hungary regarding energy supplies, responding to a question on whether the alternative supply routes proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting last month had been established, the Anadolu Turkish News Agency wrote.

“Of course, now that the world has confidently embarked on a path toward a rather serious economic and energy crisis, the scale of which is growing day by day, the market and market conditions in the energy and energy resources sector have completely changed,” Peskov said.

Huge number of requests for Russian energy deliveries

He added that there is a “huge” number of requests to purchase Russian energy resources from alternative sources, adding that they are conducting negotiations in a way that “best suits our interests.” On March 9, Putin held a meeting on the situation surrounding the global oil and gas market, during which he said they will discuss Russia’s future actions in the global energy sector, including in light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East, among other matters.

Regional escalations have continued to rage since Israel and the US launched an offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities have not updated the toll in recent days.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
