Budapest, October 29 (MTI) – Retail sales in Hungary climbed at an annual 4.6 percent in August according to both unadjusted and calendar-adjusted data, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a second reading of data on Thursday, revising data published earlier.
Both figures were revised slightly downwards from 4.7 percent in the first reading published on October 5.
Food sales increased by 3.7 percent, non-food sales were up by 4.5 percent and fuel sales rose by 7.2 percent, calendar-adjusted figures show.
In January-August 2015, retail sales were up by 6.0 percent after a 5.1 percent increase in 2014 according to both calendar-adjusted and unadjusted data.
KSH noted that legislation requiring most big retailers to remain closed on Sundays came into force in the middle of March, but said that more time and data were needed to gauge the effects of the new rule.
