List of banned designer drugs to be extended in Hungary
The government is stepping up its fight against designer drugs and has added 11 new items to the list of 74 banned psychoactive substances, the human resources ministry state secretary said on Wednesday.
The Hungarian penal code is the strictest in Europe when it comes to crimes related to drugs, Bence Rétvári said in a statement.
Hungary was among the first countries in Europe to react to the spread of designer drugs when it introduced legal regulations against them in 2012, he added.
Rétvári said the government was also allocating significant resources to prevention, with 3 billion forints (EUR 9.3m) available for targeted schemes and additional funding for child protection and for developing social services at schools.
