Marriott International to debut The Luxury Collection in Hungary
Özyer Group yesterday announced the signing of an agreement with Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) to launch the acclaimed Luxury Collection brand in Hungary with Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel.
Slated to open in early 2019 as the first Luxury Collection property in Hungary, this landmark hotel will occupy the beautiful Matild Place in Budapest, a palatial neo-baroque building on the gateway to the Elisabeth Bridge over the Danube. Originally built between 1899 and 1902, under the patronage of Princess Clotilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, by Hungarian-German architect Kálmán Giergl, both the Matild and its sister building, the Klotild Palace, feature large copies of the crown of the Archduke atop their twin towers.
The new hotel will feature 130 elegantly appointed room and suites along with multiple options for dining, including the historical Matild Café—the first in the city to open after World War II—a Sky Bar and a signature restaurant.
“We are delighted that the Özyer Group put their trust in Marriott International and brought the Matild Palace to The Luxury Collection,” said Ivica Cacic, Regional Vice President Development- Eastern Europe, Russia & the CIS. “The Matild Palace will be another jewel in The Luxury Collection’s exquisite portfolio of hotels around the world”.
As the first Luxury Collection Hotel in Hungary, the Matild Palace will provide the perfect setting for international travelers seeking authentic experiences and exceptional service in an intimate setting.
