Ministry mulls establishing state secretariat for taxes, economy minister confirms
Budapest, August 29 (MTI) – Establishing an independent state secretariat for tax affairs is “being mulled over” at the economy ministry, the portfolio’s head said at a press conference on Saturday.
Responding to a query, Varga said he would make a proposal to the prime minister if a decision was taken on establishing a state secretariat within the ministry. He noted that all European countries have tax state secretariats that operate independently within ministries.
Varga revealed that there was already a candidate to head such a state secretariat, but gave an evasive answer when asked about speculation in the press that state secretary Andras Tallai is likely to be named.
