Transport minister announces significant motorway vignette decrease

Construction and Transportation Minister János Lázár said he had decided to offer motorists a 65pc discount on annual vignettes for Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County because of ongoing repairs of the M30 motorway in a post on Facebook on Thursday.

Lázár said the county vignettes were expected to be priced at HUF 2,500 apiece. A section of the M30 between Miskolc (NE Hungary) and the border of Slovakia is undergoing warranty repairs.

Construction sector output falls 9.6% in January

Output of Hungary’s construction sector fell 9.6pc year-on-year in January, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday show. Output of the buildings segment dropped 8.9pc and civil engineering output declined 10.8pc.

In absolute terms, construction sector output reached HUF 420.5bn in January. The buildings segment accounted for 65pc of the total. In a month-on-month comparison, construction sector output edged up 1.6pc, adjusted for seasonal and workday effects.

Order stock was inched down 0.2pc at the end of January than twelve months earlier. Buildings segment orders fell 14.7pc but civil engineering orders rose 14.2pc. New order volume dropped 15.8pc during the period. New orders in the buildings segment slipped 19.7pc but new civil engineering orders climbed 8.9pc.
