Nemeth says Scottish referendum illuminating, Jobbik regrets outcome
(MTI) – The result of the Scottish referendum is illuminating in several respects, in showing for instance that autonomy does not necessarily result in separation, head of parliament’s foreign affairs committee Zsolt Nemeth, of the ruling Fidesz party, said on Friday.
Radical nationalist Jobbik said it regretted that the advocates of independence had failed in the referendum, adding, however, it was sure the Scottish nation would in the end achieve victory.
Marton Gyongyosi, the party’s deputy group leader, said the referendum served as a model for ethnic Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin who seek autonomy.
