From Wednesday onwards, the brand-new maximidi Mercedes buses will begin operating, initially on route 121 in Újpest, followed by service on route 27, announced Gergely Karácsony, the Mayor of Budapest, on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
He highlighted that these new buses are environmentally friendly, fully accessible, spacious, and comfortable, and even come equipped with phone chargers.
According to his post, 65 new vehicles will arrive over the coming months, renewing eight percent of BKV’s bus fleet.
The mayor emphasised: “Despite every attempt by the government to drain resources, we are resolute in refusing to give up on improving public transport. We continue to work towards a greener, more liveable Budapest.”
