Since the end of pandemic restrictions, more and more destinations are available from Budapest Airport. There is more good news for travellers, as the number of destinations available from the Hungarian capital will increase even further this spring.
A few days ago, Eszter Almási, flight operations manager of Budapest Airport, announced the airport’s newest developments and future plans at a professional conference. The event was reported in detail by turizmusonline.hu.
Increased number of destinations on offer
Almási said at the event that the number of passengers in 2019, which was 16 million, had fallen to 3.8 million on Budapest flights during the pandemic. However, they are now predicting 14 million passengers this year, and next year they believe they can reach the 2019 numbers again.
As for flights, according to Almási, everything is nearly in line with pre-pandemic numbers. She said that there are now 112 destinations available from the Budapest Airport, with a total of 37 airlines. She added that transatlantic flights and certain flights to France have not yet returned though.
However, she was pleased to announce that a number of new flights will start from Budapest Airport in the spring. From 13 March, Air Serbia is going to operate flights between Budapest and Belgrade. It is planned to increase the frequency of flights on this route. By May, they plan to have 17 flights per week on the Budapest-Belgrade route.
Ryanair is going to offer flights to Belfast from 27 March. The route to Belfast will operate twice a week.
