The rate of natural decline in the population increased in January, with a 9.8 percent decrease in births and a 9.6 percent increase in deaths compared with the same month in 2020, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Thursday.

In January, 7,302 children were born, 793 fewer than in the same period last year, while 12,916 people died, 1,136 more than in January 2019.

The population loss for January was 5,614, compared to 3,685 in January last year.

According to the assessment, the higher increase in mortality is not only due to COVD-19 deaths: compared to previous years, the influenza epidemic peaked at a lower level in January last year, so the base data was also lower.

Meanwhile, the number of marriages somewhat decreased from January last year, by 83 to 2,780 couples in the first month of 2021.

With so much uncertainty day to day and in our futures it makes sense not to bring new lives into society right now. The planet is over-populated and there has been a decline in the genetic endowment of mankind along the way. When you read news stories of the despicable behaviors of man, the lawless disregard for society, neighbours and family with poor lifestyle choices we are on a downward spiral in many ways. Better not to bring more babies into such a cruel, sad world.

I know that countries need tax payers to keep building, keep moving forward with the infrastructure that depends on money. I know that old people require younger ones to look after them. There was always an expectation that each human person replace themselves (1 birth) however families are off balance now. Wealthy having less children than the poor. What kind of decision making is that for poor people to make? If you are not doing well financially for yourself, the worst, irresponsible thing is for you to have babies and force them into a life of poverty.

In Canada we see this terrible situation amongst our Inuit and other older than 600 yr generation immigrants to our country. They don’t respect educational opportunities that taxpayers spend billions of $$$s on and refuse to move to where job opportunities are for their limited skills and yet keep having babies. You shouldn’t ever want to encourage that in Hungary. Bringing babies into poverty should be a crime.
