Budapest municipal council sets up city diplomacy academy
The Budapest municipal council has set up a city diplomacy academy, Gergely Karácsony, the city’s mayor, announced on Facebook on Saturday.
“Because big cities are essential hubs of our globalised world, Budapest requires an active city diplomacy strategy,” Karácsony said.
“The establishment of the city diplomacy academy is an important step in strengthening the capital’s presence on the international stage.”
The academy headed by former foreign minister Péter Balázs will ensure that Budapest’s future city diplomats learn from the best diplomats and professors, the mayor said.
