Several Hungarian cities hit by poor air quality
Several Hungarian towns and cities are plagued by poor air quality due to a high concentration of airborne dust particles, the National Public Health Centre (NNK) said on Tuesday.
The air quality in Putnok and Sajószentpéter has deteriorated to unhealthy levels, NNK said. Concentrations of particulate matter are also considered to be too high in Budapest, Dunaújváros, Kazincbarcika, Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Tököl and Vác.
According to forecasts,
no improvement in air quality is likely over the next few days.
NNK advised vulnerable groups such as children, people suffering from a chronic illness and the elderly in those cities not to spend too much time outdoors as the effects of the air pollution level can be dangerous for them.
Residents have been warned to avoid using improper heating materials.
