Nightclub horror: Hungarian teenager trained in martial arts knocked out so badly he can’t feel half of his face

Fortunately, this street attack didn’t end as tragically as two punches thrown earlier that same day in Budapest, which sadly resulted in the victim’s death in hospital. Still, the boy from Szolnok has every reason to consider himself lucky if he escapes the assault by a gang of five without permanent damage — as of now, he cannot feel half of his face. Unfortunately, his martial arts skills offered no defence, as he was attacked from behind.
Leaving a private party alone, heading home
The 16-year-old, making his way home from a party in Szolnok, was set upon by a group of five. One of them showed “remarkable bravery and valour” by striking him from behind so forcefully that the teenager now has no sensation in half of his face. The troublemakers prompted local police to organise patrols in the area, although patrol cars only roam the streets until 2 a.m. The assault happened after that.
The attack took place on the night of a formal school ball held at a venue called Boomerang, where entry was by pre-purchased ticket only — meaning the troublemakers couldn’t get in and were left outside. However, this gang seemed determined to pick a fight with peaceful partygoers at any cost that night.
Here are some photos of the Boomerang club:
When the boy left the venue at 4 a.m., they confronted him. He remembers nothing, as he was struck from behind and his head hit the kerb. He only came to in hospital while doctors were stitching his head.

Martial arts skills proved no defence
The teen told Blikk that although he trains competitively in martial arts, he stood no chance against an attack from behind. His mother said he merely wanted to get to the bus stop, but the troublemakers wouldn’t let him.
He is now undergoing hearing tests, and half his face remains paralysed. The family has already received veiled threats. Fearing for her son’s safety and to prevent such attacks from happening again unchecked, his mother is campaigning for the local council to install more CCTV cameras in public spaces. Meanwhile, police are investigating one juvenile suspect.
This is not the first time there have been issues at the local Boomerang Club or the Yacht Club. That’s precisely why a local councillor, together with a concerned father, established the so-called “Dad Commando”.
