Hungarian government’s recipe for 2026 success: no migrants, no war, more Russian energy

Brussels consistently gives the wrong answers to crucial issues such as war, migration, and energy security, thereby hindering the prosperity of the European people and essentially jeopardising the future of the entire continent, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Tuesday.

Migrants flood the streets of western cities, says the Hungarian government

In a post on Facebook, Szijjártó said the Brussels leadership’s “failed record” was clear, with European countries drifting closer to war every day, and “while migrants flood the streets of western cities, household energy bills are skyrocketing across the continent”.

“By contrast, we Hungarians were the first to stand up and make it clear that we would stay out of the war, not accept a single migrant, and not give up Russian energy sources, thus preserving Europe’s lowest utility costs,” he said.

“We have a national government, so we stand on the ground of common sense and reality, taking into account only one consideration: the interests of the Hungarian people,” he added.

Szijjártó said that Brussels’ “failed policy” had been increasingly obvious, while “it is clear that the voice of the people cannot be suppressed; a patriotic revolution has begun across Europe”. “Hungarians are no longer alone, and in more and more countries, the realisation is gaining ground that only national governments are capable of halting our continent’s downward spiral,” Szijjártó said.

Brussels’ recipe

He added that this was the reason why next year’s election was so important to Brussels. “They want to get us out of the way, because the Hungarian government clearly refutes the policies that have plunged Europe into crisis, and they see that more and more countries are following Hungary’s example,” he said.

“We know Brussels’ recipe: a puppet government that is obedient on everything, where Brussels’ instructions take precedence over national interests,” Szijjártó said. “To fall in line with the mainstream, send money, weapons, and soldiers to Ukraine, let in migrants, and wean off Russian energy, even if gas and electricity cost three times as much.”

2026 elections

What’s at stake in the 2026 election is whether Hungary will stay out of the war or get dragged into it, he said. “Do we keep migrants out or let them in? Do we protect utility price cuts or let energy prices skyrocket? In short: will the country be led by a national government or will a puppet government await instructions,” he added.

  1. It’s certainly a creative bit of political math. The Foreign Minister warns that other policies would make energy prices “cost three times as much,” while celebrating Hungary’s “lowest utility costs” in Europe. Meanwhile, we have the small, inconvenient fact that Hungary’s gas prices are among the EU’s highest. Perhaps the “ground of common sense” he stands on is in a different reality where numbers don’t apply.

    • Yeah, because if I have a constant x cost, and you have a variable cost from 1/2 x to 10 x, you can print the propaganda, that 1/2 x is lower then x. And it’s not even technically a lie. And if you had 1 day of 1/2 x, you can just ignore the rest of the year.

The problem is, that when it’s not 1/2 x, it can be 10 x too.
But you obviously disregard that inconvenient fact, because you are not interested in the truth. You care about the propaganda being spread.

  2. OMG!
A politician does what his voters demand. What an outrage.

What about the oligarchs? The Banks? The donors of the Western politicians? Don’t the Hungarians understand, that they are supposed to follow orders instead of thinking? They should just accept their roles as slaves already!

It’s nothing new. It’s not the EU, that invented colonialism. The Austrians did the same. The USSR did the same. And the end result will still be the same this time:
Step 1, Arrogant foreigners think we will obey.
Step 2, We dismantle their empire.

  3. In the first six months of 2025 the Utility Cost Reduction Program cost Hungary 500 billion forints. That is the size of the state subsidy of consumer energy usage which is everyone’s own money. Meanwhile some Hungarian businesses pay the sixth highest cost for electricity in the EU. All those business costs are passed through to consumers contributing to the high costs of everything you buy. The other problem is that state subsidies for household energy consumption result in Hungarian households using 50% more energy per square meter for heating than the EU average. Hungarians haven’t invested in energy efficiency.

  4. In the last major Hungarian election, The Hungarian Left made all the points it has been making for the last year.

The Hungarian Left stated, over and over, that what Fidesz called it’s triumphs were not real – just a deceptive sleight of hand.

And yet : Fidesz won it’s greatest election ever – Marki-Zay, a good candidate, losing in a landslide.

Until the Hungarian Left manages to deal with what most Hungarian s seem to regard as it’s credibility, on issues of immigration and the systemic sexualization of children, and now the war, it will continue on in the minority.

Hungarian Leftists are so proud of themselves, for NOT caring about those issues that other Hungarians do care for, they reap the fruits of blindness & conceit.
