Number of jobseekers falling in Hungary

The number of jobseekers in Hungary stood at 232,348 in February, down by more than 3,000 from the same month a year earlier, the state secretary for employment policy said on Wednesday, citing data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).

The February figure was the lowest for the month in more than three decades, Sándor Czomba said. Around 30,000 jobseekers have found work as the result of recently launched European Union-funded government placement programmes, Czomba said.

Ministry to propose amendments to rules of simplified employment in agriculture

The National Economy Ministry late on Tuesday said it reviewed the rules of simplified employment in agriculture and will propose amendments to Parliament during the spring session. If the proposed amendments are approved, the maximum number of working days in this form of employment will increase from the current 120 days by an additional 90 days from January 2026, with payment of higher payroll tax for the additional days.

Orbán government launches fourth round of EU-funded employee training subsidy scheme

The government is launching a HUF 15bn subsidy scheme from March, the fourth phase of a larger project to support employee training at small and medium-sized companies from European Union funding, the National Economy Ministry and the Culture and Innovation Ministry said on Wednesday.
