Fully 48 patients, generally elderly with co-morbidities, died over the past 24 hours, while 647 new infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Saturday.
So far 4,969,321 people have received a first jab, while 2,967,350 have been fully vaccinated.
The number of active infections has declined to 106,645, while hospitals are treating 1,500 Covid patients, 183 of whom need respiratory assistance.
There are a more than 15 thousand people in official quarantine, while almost 5.7 million tests have been officially carried out.
Since the first outbreak, 801,672 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 29,475. Fully 665,552 people have made a recovery.
So far, most infections have been registered in Budapest and Pest County, followed by the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplen, Győr-Moson-Sopron and Hajdú-Bihar.
“Goodbye masks!” – Hungary lifts most restrictions
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a radio interview on Friday that “we’ve basically defeated the third wave” of the coronavirus, and that a number of remaining restrictions would be lifted once five million people have been vaccinated.
Outstanding restrictions to be lifted include the night-time curfew, the mandatory closing time of restaurants and shops, wearing masks in public spaces, as well as the ban on outdoor individual and team sports.
Further, up to 50 people can attend private and family events, while up to 200 people can attend weddings.
Hotel and restaurant managers must make sure guests are separated, while up to 500 people can attend outdoor events, including meetings.
