Hungary and the European Union “could achieve great things together if Brussels mastered its Hungarophobia”, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in Veszprém, in western Hungary, on Friday.

Orbán inaugurated the ActiCity Dance and Movement Centre, constructed as part of the developments of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European capital of culture programme.

Orbán thanked the EU “and Brussels bureaucrats” for choosing Veszprém”and so Hungary”. The city’s performance shows that “Hungary and Brussels could do great things together if only Brussels bureaucrats managed to master their well-developed Hungarophobia,” he said.

“What a shame that Veszprém’s example is the exception and not the rule,” he said.

The EU was created as the modern form of European cooperation to achieve peace and prosperity, he said. But today, “we are up to our jugular in a war”, he said, adding that the economic situation and prospects were gloomy. “If the European Union can’t fulfil its original mission, what is it for?” Unless that question is answered, “the days of lovely traditions and programmes like the European capital of culture of are numbered,” he said.

People have to be afraid of Hungary in order for there to be hungarophobia. No one is afraid of Hungary, except for Hungarians, and that is very sad that one has to be afraid of their own government.

The use of hungarophobia is very disconcerting because Russian mouth breathers are also using the term russophobia. Someone in Hungary is surely following the Russian script.

Orban – just DIVIDING us further and further away from the European Union.

Viktor it is Orbanophobia that we all have. Not Hungarophobia.

First time I ever heard the word Hungarofobia. I thought it was the Hungarian political leaders who have phobias of anyone or anything that differs from their opinion.
EU was created for European cooperation and currently Hungary is severely endangering it by not following agreed EU rules.
