However, such a move is impossible because it would trigger the outbreak of another world war. Therefore, an urgent peace is required and Orbán suggested Ukraine should sacrifice a lot for that.
In an interview with the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, published online late Friday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the only lasting solution to the situation caused by the war in Ukraine is for Ukraine to once again become a kind of buffer zone between Russia and NATO.

When asked about the prospects for the US peace plan in light of his Moscow trip, Orbán Viktor recalled that following NATO’s eastward expansion, Ukraine acted as a neutral buffer zone between NATO and Russia, providing Europe with security and balance from a defensive standpoint. However, today both sides accuse each other of breaking this arrangement.
He believed that the only durable solution would be to restore Ukraine’s status as a buffer state within the borders agreed upon at a future peace conference after the war. NATO and Russia must simultaneously agree on the scale and equipment of Ukrainian forces and guarantee that the buffer zone will not be annexed under either side’s control.

Russian sanctions must be lifted, and arms restrictions imposed
Orbán Viktor declared it is time to face reality and that the sensible truth is found in the 28-point American peace plan. Time works in Russia’s favour; the longer peace is delayed, the more territory and lives Ukraine loses. He explained that avoiding further losses is only possible by sending NATO ground troops to the front—a move that would trigger a widespread European war. The plan also allows Russia to re-integrate into the international economy, lifts sanctions on Moscow, and revitalises business opportunities.
The Prime Minister dismissed the notion that the war can be financed with money from Russia. “We must tell our citizens that every euro spent on supporting Ukraine so far and in the future is fully paid for by Europeans,” he emphasised. He added that this means high-level European-Russian talks must begin as soon as possible. Additionally, an arms limitation agreement with Moscow is required, while Europe must strengthen its military capabilities in the long term to defend itself against any adversary in a conventional war.

Migration equals antisemitism
In response to a question, Orbán Viktor spoke about the fight against antisemitism, stating that migration brings significant antisemitism with it. This poses a difficult situation for Jewish communities in Western Europe, prompting many families to leave. He also noted that migration brings homophobia and views enforcing women’s subordination.
He reiterated that Hungary will not admit migrants, preferring to endure even Brussels’s daily €1 million fines rather than become a country of immigration. One result of this policy is that every member of Hungary’s Jewish community can live freely and without fear. He stressed that government policy includes zero tolerance towards antisemitism.

Every military is dependent on the economy of the country that supports it. The most dangerous thing for Europe would be an economically successful Russian which could then support an expanded and more deadly military to threaten Europe with. That is what Orban is promoting.
What are you talking about?! Russia is already a very successful economy, more successful in fact than most European countries, without needing ANY European help. The European sanctions only hurt and are hurting Europe itself. I mean the economies of Germonkey, Frango, the JewK, etc are in shambles, while that of Russia, now wholly aligned and integrated with BRICS, is flying! Johnny if you limit yourself to disinformation provided by Fidesz or the Kremlin you will have a warped view of the world. What successful Russian multi-national businesses exist? Think man think. They have no major innovative technological companies. Russia exists as a source of commodities and some millitary exports. What little technology they have they have is devoted to military purposes and related to that their space program. Would you buy a Russian car. a Russian mobile phone, Russian television. Russian laptop. etc. etc etc. Russia’s philosophy is not to build a beautiful house but to burn down your neighbours’ house if he builds one better than yours. That is how they compete. Russia has been an existential threat to Europe for 80 years and we should never let the pressure off those evil invaders until they adopt a peaceful democratic government.

It’s a very polite way of saying that NATO is lost in the Ukraine unless NATO commits fully to a world war.
