Seemingly Trump’s ceasefire collapses, but the Orbán cabinet still praises him as a successful peacemaker

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered his army on Tuesday to stage intense strikes in the Iranian capital, Tehran, accusing Iran of violating a ceasefire between the two arch-foes.

More Israeli strikes on Iran

“I instructed the IDF (army), in coordination with the Prime Minister, to continue the intense strike activity in Tehran to neutralize regime targets and terrorist infrastructure in Tehran, following yesterday’s operation,” Katz said in a statement cited by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the Turkish news agency, Anadolu wrote.

Katz claimed that he ordered the strikes “in light of the absolute violation of the ceasefire declared by the US President by Iran and the launching of missiles toward Israel.” The army earlier said that air-raid sirens sounded in northern Israel on Tuesday after the detection of a new missile attack from Iran.

Trump credits B-2 pilots for sealing Iran-Israel ceasefire deal

US President Donald Trump on Monday praised the role of B-2 stealth bomber pilots in what he described as a key military operation that contributed to securing a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. “We couldn’t have made today’s ‘deal’ without the talent and courage of our great B-2 pilots, and all of those associated with that operation,” Trump said on Truth Social.

Hungarian government praises Trump as peacemaker after American attacks on Iran

US President Donald Trump’s latest peace endeavour has been successful, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, said, commenting on the cessation of armed attacks in the Iran-Israel conflict. “After the settlement of the Pakistan-India conflict, the guns are now silent in the Israel-Iran war, so the time has come to support the US president’s policy on Ukraine, too,” he said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday.

The truce will prevent further bloodshed, destruction as well as the threat of nuclear escalation, the minister said, adding: “We hope the ceasefire will prove lasting. Szijjártó said Trump’s peace efforts in Ukraine, too, deserved everyone’s full backing, adding that today’s NATO summit provided an “excellent opportunity” for European leaders to act accordingly.

Hungary stands up for Qatar’s sovereignty

Hungary stands up for Qatar’s sovereignty and the right of Qataris to a peaceful existence, Szijjártó said after talking to his Qatari counterpart by phone on Monday, following an attack Iran launched on Qatari territory.

“Qatar is a friend of Hungary and a strategic ally in the region,” Szijjarto said in a post on Facebook. “We have always counted on one another,” he said, adding that the Qataris played “a decisive role” in the release of three Hungarian hostages from Hamas captors. The minister said he reassured his counterpart of the solidarity of the Hungarian people. “My friend Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and I expressed our hope that the conflict in the Middle East, through negotiations, will end swiftly,” he said. Fully 250 Hungarians reside in Qatar, 71 of whom have registered for consular protection, he said.
