The 31st Bálványos Summer University in Baile Tusnad (Tusnádfürdő), central Romania, to be held between July 21 and 24, will focus on the war in Ukraine, the ensuing economic crisis, the future of Europe and the region, and policy for Hungarian communities abroad, organisers said on Monday in Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda).
The jamboree organised by the Budapest-based Pro Minoritate Foundation and the Hungarian Youth Council of Transylvania will be held after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, organisers said.
Talks focusing on current events will include roundtable discussions under the titles Central Europe in the Shadow of War, Where to, Europe?, Hungarian Future 2030, and Our Sovereignty in a new International Economy, organisers said.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will speak on Saturday,
where he will use the event’s motto, “Some things are forever”, to talk about his take on current events.
The event nicknamed “Tusványos” will see speeches by Hungarian political players and Romanian experts too, they said. There will be talks between pro-government and opposition politicians, while others will “represent Transylvanian pluralism”, they said.
Tusványos is expected to host over 400 events in 27 tents.
The concert programme will include performaces by Hungarian groups Beatrice, Tankcsapda, Margaret Island, Kowalsky meg a Vega, among others.
