Over 100,000 downloads from new website on direct EU support

Budapest, August 3 (MTI) – Some 105,000 visitors have downloaded information about direct European Union support from a new Hungarian-language website launched last Tuesday.

The development ministry said a third of visitors wanted to learn about EU funding available for business development. The businesses operate in areas including science and innovation, culture and civil initiatives, environment protection and climate policy, education, health, youth affairs and sports.

Managing director at the Hungarian Development Centre Antal Kiss, who is also the ministry commissioner in charge of coordinating direct community resources, told public news channel M1 on Monday that the new website helps businesses find their way around EU tenders and also offers significant development opportunities through European contacts.

The requirements for directly applying for EU funding are high but possible to fulfil, Kiss said. It is worth learning the process because in the next budget period, starting from 2021, only this type of application will be available, he added.

In the 2014-2020 budget period, more than 130 billion forints worth of direct EU funding will be available in over 500 tenders each year.
