Budapest (MTI) – Outgoing Fidesz group leader Antal Rogan will take his oath as minister to head the prime minister’s new cabinet office and lawmakers could vote on budget amendments partly in connection with the migrant situation at parliament’s four-day session next week.
On Monday afternoon, Rogan is scheduled to take his oath of office. Hungary’s parliament voted to establish a cabinet office as a separate ministry on Oct.12.
On Tuesday, lawmakers will hold a general debate about the budget of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority for 2016 and its final accounts for last year. After that, if the budget council’s opinion is received, lawmakers will vote on central budget amendments, such as increasing the allocation for extraordinary government measures by 60 billion forints (EUR 194m) for handling of the migration crisis. The amendment proposal also includes taking over the 47.2 billion forints worth of debt of the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA).
Lawmakers could also amend the health law to authorise the national chief medical officer to order a compulsory health screening of migrants in the case of crisis situations.
On Wednesday, parliament will hear reports about the 2014 activities of heads of the supreme court Kuria and the National Judiciary Office. The chief public prosecutor will present a report about the office’s activities this year and lawmakers will debate amendments to the tax laws and several items of financial legislation.
On Thursday, lawmakers will debate a report by the European affairs committee in connection with the amendment of an EU resolution connected to the refugee crisis.
