Breaking: Péter Magyar announces additional ministers

Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party, has appointed Zoltán Tarr, the party’s deputy chairman and head of its European Parliament delegation, to head the Ministry for Social Relations and Culture. Meanwhile, Zoltán Tanács, who led the compilation of the party’s “Operational and Humane Hungary” programme, will take charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Péter Magyar announced new ministers
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Tisza Party chairman announced the two ministerial roles and revealed that Kriszta Bódis will serve as a government commissioner responsible for crafting the national social policy strategy, as well as coordinating education, social services, and healthcare horizontally.
According to Magyar, Tarr as minister will oversee the “liberation from political influence” and development of theatre, dance, and music, alongside Hungarian cinema. The nation’s social, cultural, and economic revival is inconceivable without the freedom of thought and art, Magyar declared.
He added that Tarr will also tackle the “deliberately neglected and dismantled” heritage protection over the past decade, while sorting out the state of public collections and the creative industries in collaboration with those working in the field. The Ministry for Social Relations and Culture will in future handle relations with civil society organisations, churches and denominations, as well as Hungarians beyond the borders and in the diaspora, Magyar indicated.
Magyar announced that Tanács as minister will ensure Hungary becomes a modern, digital, innovative, and successful nation capable of long-term, strategic thinking and offering scientifically grounded, future-proof solutions to challenges.
Tanács’s duties will also include ensuring every citizen and business can access modern, convenient, mobile-friendly, and secure digital services, so that the state’s data assets generate value and administrative processes are straightforward, the Tisza Party leader wrote.
He noted that the Ministry of Science and Technology will further regulate and direct science policy, research and development, and innovation, while building a vibrant, successful startup ecosystem to become a key driver of Hungary’s knowledge-based economy.
Government commissioner also announced
Kriszta Bódis—a psychologist, author, documentary filmmaker, social policy expert, university lecturer, and social consultant—will as government commissioner oversee the social policy strategy and coordination of the relevant sectors, Magyar said.
He highlighted that Ms Bódis has worked “in the field” for more than 30 years, where she built the Van Helyed system. This connects various areas of social policy to guarantee equal access to quality education and basic services for every child and family, regardless of social circumstances.
