Péter Magyar says PM Orbán may leak sex videos of him; fears agents could plant drugs in his car or home

Polls indicate that Péter Magyar’s Tisza Party is now leading Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz Party—a scenario not seen in Hungary for nearly two decades. In response, Magyar claims Orbán will do everything in his power to prevent him and his political community from winning the 2026 elections. As Hungary’s economy failed to take off in early 2025, contrary to government promises, only legal—and potentially illegal—means remain available for the ruling party to secure re-election. Magyar believes that Orbán and his communication team may release sex videos involving him, and that agents could plant drugs in his or his colleagues’ vehicles and residences.
Recent polls show a significant Tisza lead
Hungarian politics continues to cross one Rubicon after another. For instance, last year, Fidesz’s communications director, Tamás Menczer, confronted Péter Magyar and shouted at him from just centimetres away. He insulted Magyar’s physical appearance and launched attacks against his family. Following public outcry, Fidesz refrained from ordering a repeat of such actions. Nevertheless, Magyar believes Fidesz still has many tactics in reserve to undermine him and his Tisza Party.

According to recent polling, Tisza’s lead over Fidesz is increasing. For example, Publicus reported today that 41% of voters who would turn out for a general election held this Sunday would vote for Tisza, while only 39% would choose Fidesz. In THIS article, Telex compares the results of seven pollsters—21 Kutatóközpont, Idea, Medián, Nézőpont, Publicus, Republikon, and Závecz—are compared. The average of their findings also points to a notable Tisza lead.
Magyar fears leaked sex videos and drug-planting accusations
Magyar claims that Fidesz will attempt to block his candidacy in the April 2026 general elections. In a video statement, he said he had received information that compromising sex videos involving him would soon be leaked. He did not clarify whether these would be real or AI-generated. He also suspects that recent legislation on drug offences was passed to facilitate charges against him. Magyar maintains he has never used drugs, but fears agents could plant substances in the homes or vehicles of him or his colleagues.
He has stated that he and his close team members are willing to undergo weekly public drug tests—and they expect Fidesz politicians to do the same. He specifically mentioned Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch.

Magyar says he receives daily threats involving his family. Unnamed individuals have allegedly warned him that he will lose joint custody of his children (raised with former Justice Minister Judit Varga) if he continues in politics. Others have reportedly told him he will end up in prison unless he flees the country.

He also mentioned an anticipated smear campaign that would portray him as a close ally of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Orbán Government seeks to strip his EP mandate
Magyar alleges that the government intends to fabricate evidence regarding his finances in an attempt to strip him of his European Parliament mandate. He cautioned the public not to be surprised if authorities “discovered” an offshore account or safe in his name.
He maintains that neither he nor his party have accepted foreign financial support, but claims that Hungarian authorities may forge evidence to convict them under foreign funding laws. Following changes to the Hungarian Penal Code in 2023, this could result in prison sentences of up to three years for affected politicians.

Magyar believes Fidesz is in a state of panic and will change electoral laws to protect its position. He anticipates changes that will make it easier for smaller parties to enter the race, allow mayors to also serve as MPs (currently prohibited), and use administrative hurdles to obstruct Tisza’s participation in the 2026 elections.
