PHOTO: Italian businessman mysteriously died in Budapest
The 37-year-old Stefano Puddu moved to Budapest in 2020. Then he disappeared mysteriously last October.
According to Bors, a Hungarian daily, the man was in daily contact with his relatives living in Sardinia. Then he disappeared. His father called the Italian embassy in Budapest to ask them for help. It became apparent after 15 days that his son was no longer among the living.
However, the authorities could not tell the cause of his death. First, they talked about a heart attack, then a car crash. Finally, they said he died of meningitis. Police said they did not find signs of a possible crime.
However, the family says the late businessman’s watch and purse disappeared. Thus, they think he was murdered. As a result, they turned to the prosecutor in Rome, where police opened an investigation because of homicide and theft, the Hungarian newspaper said.
