PHOTOS: The Hungarian restaurant where you can have 24-carat gold cappuccino

Hungary has a lot of peculiar and unique restaurants both in Budapest and the municipalities. We now present Újváros Bisztró in Szarvas, where your cappuccino or some other kinds of coffee specialities are served with 24-carat gold, so the service is only comparable to Dubai’s luxurious Burj Al Arab, the world’s only 7-star hotel. If you do not want to travel by plane to the United Arab Emirates, you can reach Szarvas by car from Budapest. The travel time is only 2 hours, and the city is picturesque.

A unique restaurant in Hungary

János Szin, the restaurant’s owner, told origo.hu that consuming precious metals like gold is good for the human body. That is why aristocrats ate with spoons made of gold. The restaurant works with internationally acknowledged chefs and uses local ingredients. Furthermore, Újváros, as its name suggests in Hungarian, is the city’s newest district.

The restaurant was the dream of the local siblings, Csaba and Bence Szin. And they did their best to offer their guests world-class service. Since Szavas takes pride in its Bolza Castle, built in the 19th century, they wanted to commemorate the aristocratic family in the interior of their place. That is why the floor is covered with Italian ceramics. The tiles were made in the millennium-long centre of European ceramics manufacturing, Ravenna.

All guests can experience top-quality interior design in the restaurant. “When they enter, they can see the floor first. Its pattern is decorated with 24-carat gold fillers”, Mr Szin said. He added that the same pattern comes back on their website and Social Media sites, just like on their menus. He highlighted that they wanted the 24-carat gold to be presented in their offer and would like to increase the number of dishes and drinks that contain that precious metal.

In their café, they have three different speciality coffees. They are the products of a Hungarian, an Italian and an international top coffee bean roaster. Below you can check out a photo of their El Limoncillo, a product of Nicaragua and the roasters of the Netherlands:

Among others, you can enjoy a gold cappuccino covered with 24-carat gold powder. Instead of travelling to Dubai, “Hungarians only need to go as far as Szarvas to have this unique coffee experience”, Mr Szin said.

24-carat gold in coffee, cappuccino, cakes, and dishes

Csaba Szin added that consuming precious metals was healthy. Aristocratic families would commonly use gold spoons. Furthermore, in the Byzantine Empire, many meat dishes were covered in gold on the great feasts of the court.

In some of their cakes, they have already added a thin gold disk. But they plan to present gold in their dishes, as well.
