The world’s tallest sunflower on remarkable PHOTOS

Dutch gardener Jeroen van der Velde, who has grown a sunflower reaching 9.18 meters, set a new world record in Enschede, Netherlands on 17 August.

Another giant in his garden is still rising, leaving hope it could grow even taller. Jeroen van der Velde at work in an attempt to grow the largest sunflower in the world.

The average height of common sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) is typically between 1.8 to 3 meters. The world record for the tallest sunflower is held by Hans-Peter Schiffer from Germany, who grew a sunflower measuring 9.17 meters in 2014.
