Winter is sure not leaving us here just yet. January’s 3rd week is going to be mainly cold and windy, but we will also experience some sunshine here and there.
As met.hu reported, wind and cold weather can be expected this week, with temperatures falling below -10 degrees Celsius in several places. However, some sunshine and snow showers may come as well.
Clouds will increase from the north, forming a thicker layer, but there may be scattered patches in smaller areas. Fog will mostly be present in the northeast and east of the country and in the southwestern counties. There might be light snowfall near the northeastern border during the second half of the night. The lowest temperature at night will be between -5 and +1 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will rise several degrees by dawn.
Precipitation is still possible in places in the southwest during the night into Tuesday, but there is little chance of it during the day. Instead, sunny skies are likely in most parts of the country, with occasional clouds. Initially, the wind will be stronger in many places, and then calm down in the second half of the day. Over night, temperature lows will be between -5 and 0 degrees Celsius, but it could be colder in wind-protected eastern and northeastern areas. In the early afternoon, temperatures will be between 3 and 8 degrees.
Over most of the country, cloudy skies and several hours of filtered sunshine can be expected. At night and dawn, fog or stratus clouds may form in places but will dissipate slowly. Significant precipitation is unlikely. Minimum temperatures are expected to be between -7 and -1 degrees Celsius. However, in the east, temperatures of -11 to -8 degrees Celsius can be recorded in places. Temperature highs will most likely be between 1 and 7 degrees.
Mixed precipitation (showers, then increasing snow showers) is likely on Thursday in some places. Clouds can be expected, with more or less sunshine. Winds from the southwest, then west and northwest will increase over a large area, becoming stormy in several places. At dawn, temperatures will generally be between -7 and 0 degrees, and in the early afternoon hours, it will mostly be between 4 and 10 degrees.
Scattered snow showers are possible on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, clouds can be expected, with longer and shorter sunny periods. Low temperatures are expected to be between -11 and -1 degrees, while the highs will be between 0 and 5 degrees.
On Saturday, sunshine can be expected in some places. Temperature lows will be between -11 and -2 degrees, while temperature highs will be between -1 and 5 degrees. On Sunday, the western part of the country will be more cloudy, with a higher chance of snow showers. Minimum temperatures will be between -10 and -1 degrees Celsius.
