President Áder to visit UK
Budapest, May 22 (MTI) – President János Áder will travel for a three-day visit to the UK on Monday to attend a series of events held in honour of Saint Thomas Becket (1118-1170), the president’s office said.
Áder, who will be accompanied by First Lady Anita Herczegh, will attend a ceremony to mark the arrival of relics held in Esztergom and a mass to be celebrated by Cardinal Péter Erdő at Westminster Cathedral.
In London, Áder is scheduled to meet Prime Minister David Cameron, Speaker of the House of Lords Frances D’Souza, Lord Mayor Jeffrey Evans and Chairman of the UK’s independent Committee on Climate Change John Gummer.
Hungarian Ambassador Péter Szabadhegy said in January that Becket’s relics held in Esztergom would be presented in the UK as part of a series of events during the spring.
Áder and his delegation will also participate at a ceremony marking the arrival of the relics from Hungary, together with relics from England, at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday.
