President appoints Simicsko as defence minister
Budapest, September 9 (MTI) – President Janos Ader has appointed Istvan Simicsko as Minister of Defence, the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Kozlony reported.
Simicsko has been appointed effective September 10.
Former defence minister Csaba Hende tendered his resignation on Monday, which Prime Minister Viktor Orban accepted.
On Tuesday parliament’s defence committee endorsed Simicsko’s appointment with 6 votes in favour and 2 against while the national security committee supported the appointment with 4 votes in favour and 1 against.
