Price increases, ticket machines and information boards at Lake Balaton

Although there were significant price increases on the beaches of Lake Balaton, the season started well. According to experts, there is no sign that guests are more careful with their spendings. Also, holiday goers will soon be assisted by new ticket machines and information boards all around Lake Balaton.

Prices increase but guests still spend a lot

The tourism season on Lake Balaton has started well this year: there is no sign of a drop in accommodation bookings, and the final bills at restaurants have not decreased either. Despite the rise in prices, there is no sign of any pressure to save money on the part of guests, the owner and manager of the Kistücsök restaurant in Balatonszemes told Világgazdaság.

On restaurant prices, he said that the average increase of 15% compared to last year is unavoidable. However, that is still very moderate compared to the actual price increases that everyone is experiencing. He added that the rate of price increases in the catering sector in the surrounding countries is close to 30 percent, as hvg.hu writes.

Reduced opening hours

Due to the lack of staff and partly due to moderate price increases, several restaurants on Lake Balaton have reduced their opening hours this year, so that they can operate with 30-40 percent less staff. Hvg.hu reports that some restaurants are closed between lunch and dinner, as is familiar from Mediterranean countries, while others have introduced full days off.

Ticket machines and information boards

Ticket vending machines and passenger information screens will be installed for the next summer season with a HUF 1.5 billion (EUR 3.75 million) tourism development, as turizmus.com reports.

The development of HUF 1.497 billion is aimed at improving the transport of Lake Balaton as a priority tourist region and raising the quality of public transport through integrated IT solutions.

According to turizmus.com, the aim of the unmanned ticket machines is to provide a credit card payment facility for the purchase of products from several service providers, such as local and intercity bus tickets, Bahart boat tickets, beach tickets, museum tickets and tickets for events and attractions.
