Prime minister’s office condemns desecration of Debrecen Great Church
Budapest (MTI) – The prime minister’s office condemns the desecration of the central Great Church of Debrecen, the office said on Friday.
Unknown perpetrators painted a swastika and a cross turned upside down on the church’s wall, a local police spokesman said on Thursday.
The office called “the evil and coward act a faint attempt” to create an atmosphere of hatred and fear in a city where various religious communities live peacefully together in the spirit of mutual respect, the office said in a statement.
It expressed hope that the police would find the perpetrators as soon as possible.
