The best outdoors programs in Budapest to enjoy spring
We have been complaining about the cold and miserable weather for months. Now, the weather finally started to warm up, and the long-lost rays of sunshine are inviting everybody outside. Here are a few outdoor events which are definitely worth checking out in Budapest, and a couple of activities you can do to enjoy spring in Budapest are also included. Enjoy spring while it lasts.
Corvin Beer Festival
The Corvin Beer Festival is being organised for the fourth time this April. During the 5-day-long event (between 18 April and 22 April), visitors can have a chance to try all kinds of special and craft beers from all over the world: Hungary, England, America, The Check Republic, Germany, Austria, Belgium, etc. There will be more than 25 stands, serving more than a hundred different types of beer. If you are looking for a relaxed, boozy evening with some friends, you cannot miss the Corvin Beer Fest!
Kis Buda Beer Festival
Even if you cannot find the time to go Corvin Beer Fest in April, do not worry, Kis Buda Beer Festival starts 11 May, and lasts for three whole days. The event will be held next to Allee shopping centre in Buda. Visitors will have a chance to try more than 200 different types of local and international beers. Besides the beer, the event’s organisers also promise to have friendly prices, delicious street food and Swabian live music as well.
Earth Festival at Budapest Zoo
In honour of Earth Day (22 April), Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden hosts the so-called Earth Festival “Water is life itself” between 19 April and 22 April. For the special occasion, the zoo planned many extra activities, such as playful activities for kids about the Danube, renewable energy or protecting aquatic ecosystems. It is a great chance for the younglings to learn one or two things about environmental protection and eco-friendly living.
Fun fact, on 22 April, many trees are being planted all over Budapest to celebrate Earth Day, which also a fun activity to join.
Have a picnic on Margaret Island
I cannot think of anything better to do on a sunny, warm spring day than going to Margaret Island, lying on the grass, eating, drinking wine and having deep chit chats with a close friend or two. If you are up for something more physically active, there are many groups on Facebook where you can find different types of classes (yoga for example) being held on Margaret Island.
Have a drink by the riverside
After work, grab a friend and something to consume, like a soda, a box of juice or a beer, it really does not matter, just head to the riverbank a little before sunset and have a memorable hour. The Danube is undoubtedly one of the most attractive elements of the Hungarian capital. During this time of the year, there will be no day when there is not at least one group of friends having a great time at the bank of the Danube.
(Re)Explore Budapest on bike
You do not even have to own a bike, just hop on a Mol Bubi bike and start exploring. It is not only great exercise, but you might discover places you would have never discovered from a bus or the underground. If you are not a self-confident biker, join the exciting walking tours that are organised to show a new side of, and reveal the hidden secrets of Budapest.
