The management of the public media has withdrawn the recent appointments of the editor-in-chief and a presenter of public television M1’s evening news programme, Duna Mediaszolgaltato told MTI on Tuesday.
The public media company announced on Tuesday that M1 channel’s evening programme would be relaunched in the second half of August with Gábor Hajdu as editor in chief and Miklós Borsa as presenter.
News portal 24.hu then reported that Hajdu had worked for the Orbán-close Mészáros Group, and Borsa for the public media – often labelled as Orbán’s propaganda media flagship by the new Tisza government – until 2014.
Following news reports concerning the two journalists’ earlier careers and their return to the public media, Prime Minister Péter Magyar suggested on Facebook that the latter was unlikely to happen, MTI wrote.
