Altogether 69 patients died of a Covid-related illness in the past 24 hours, while 20,174 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.

So far 6,345,766 people have received a first jab, while 6,083,949 have been double-jabbed. Fully 3,567,044 Hungarians have received a booster shot.

The number of active infections has risen to 205,376, while hospitals are treating 3,145 Covid-19 patients, 164 of whom are intubated on a ventilator.

Since the first outbreak, 1,471,276 have been registered with the virus, while 41,087 deaths have been recorded. Fully 1,224,813 people have made a recovery.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) found that the
COVID quick tests in Hungary are more expensive than the EU average.
Index.hu said that the body started a survey last December. Therefore, GVH suggested the government allow selling such tests in the different market chains, drugstores and fuel stations. As a result, their cost could be lower. Provided the government does not agree, GVH suggested introducing a price cap in the case of quick tests.
