Futuristic Hungexpo will bring a new type of tourism to Hungary – PHOTOS
Hungexpo will be put on a map for the greatest venues for conference tourism.
Hungexpo was renovated at a cost of net 55 billion forints (EUR 155,149,500). The results are a building of 50 thousand square metres, a completely renovated hall of 35 thousand square metres, updated green spaces of 12 thousand square metres, as well as 116 new trees planted. The project was finished in time, with the planned budget, writes portfolio.hu.
Hungexpo is the only large exhibition centre and fair in Budapest.
The newly renovated building is very modern, using amazing techniques to reshape and resize the space. The space in the conference centre can be divided or joined together to form smaller or larger rooms. A plenary can also be remodelled thanks to the Canadian gala seat system.
“The rows of chairs can be completely flat or transform at the touch of a button into an auditorium that rises. Also at the touch of a button, they completely disappear, the chairs are literally absorbed by the ground, they sink under the room, and a completely flat room emerges in just 7 minutes. At another touch of a button, the rows of chairs reappear from under the ground again in 7 minutes,” said Balázs Fürjes, who is responsible for the project.
Budapest has the fifth-largest hall equipped with such a world-patented chair system in the world. The stage in this big room can be partially lowered, and the biggest permanent LED wall of Hungary can be found here, with a size of 72 square metres.
A hall for expositions, a reception area, a new contemporary building, an information centre, offices, and a large green area also show the high standards of the project.
The aim of the project was to attract people engaging in conference tourism. If there are 200 conferences a year, that could bring half a million participants and 2 million visitors. Another upside could be that conference tourism brings demanding people with higher standards who book nicer hotels and are looking for quality services, stores, and restaurants. Many of these people are expected to return to Hungary as tourists. As Daily News Hungary wrote earlier,
Hungary is investing in improving transport and landscaping. A brand-new north-south metro line in Budapest may become reality soon, a new modern train station will drastically change Budapest’s traffic, and Budapest’s newest park has been inaugurated and is now open to the public.
