Budapest residents and visitors are advised to brace for significant traffic changes across the city this weekend due to the annual Vivicittá running festival. The event will bring temporary road closures, diversions, and parking restrictions across several key districts, impacting travel plans on both Saturday and Sunday.
Traffic changes on Saturday
According to a statement from the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK), traffic restrictions will affect Districts I, II, III, V, IX, XI, and XIII, with various streets and quays partially or fully closed to facilitate the event. From 2 PM to 3.30 PM on Saturday, the following route in District XIII will be closed:
Margitsziget central road – Árpád Bridge – Népfürdő Street – Pesti Lower Quay – Jászai Mari Square – Margit Bridge – Rendőrség Road – Hajós Alfréd Promenade.
These closures could last anywhere from three to six hours depending on event flow and traffic conditions.

In addition, an extended route affecting multiple districts will be restricted, including streets along the Pesti and Buda Lower Quays, as well as areas around Szabadság Bridge, Clark Ádám Square, and Margitsziget.
