Victory Day of Azerbaijan celebrated in Hungary

On November 7, 2025, a solemn event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of November 8 – Victory Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Budapest. The celebration was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary and the Azerbaijani House in Budapest, with the support of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora.
The event brought together Azerbaijanis living and studying in Hungary, representatives of the local community, government institutions, parliament, think tanks and media as well as the members of the diplomatic corps including the ambassadors of Türkiye, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Opening the ceremony, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary Tahir Taghizade highlighted that Victory Day is one of the brightest and most glorious pages in Azerbaijan’s history, symbolizing the unity, determination and heroism of the Azerbaijani people. It was noted that under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, the brave Azerbaijani Army brought an end to the 30-year occupation of the country’s lands during the 44-day Patriotic War, ensuring the territorial integrity of the state and restoring international law and historical justice.

Ambassador Taghizade emphasized that this victory carries multiple meanings. First and foremost, it is a triumph for Azerbaijan in terms of the restoration of its territorial integrity and the principles of international law; a victory for the broader region, helping to restore stability and security; and a victory for the international community, contributing to enhanced energy security. He also noted that it is a victory for Armenia, marking the end of its international isolation. The Ambassador underlined the importance of the historic trilateral meeting held in Washington on August 8, 2025, between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States, viewing it as a significant step toward lasting peace.
