A stationary vessel that serves as one of Esztergom’s most distinctive riverside attractions was damaged in a collision with a hotel ship on the Danube earlier this week.
According to Blikk, the ex-Komárom – permanently moored near Erzsébet Park and well-known for hosting cultural and community events – was struck along its side by a manoeuvring hotel ship. Esztergom Mayor Ádám Hernádi confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, noting that while there were no injuries, the damage to the vessel could be significant.

The collision occurred close to the city’s rugby pitch, where the ex-Komárom has long been docked after retiring from active service. Hernádi stated that the water police are investigating the circumstances of the accident to determine the exact cause and assess liability.
