Hungary launches 2026 motorway vignettes – Prices and new regional option revealed!

From Monday, drivers in Hungary can purchase their 2026 motorway vignettes, including the new annual M1 regional pass, the National Toll Payment Services Company (NÚSZ Zrt.) has announced. Both online and in-person options will be available through the NÚSZ website and most authorised resellers.

Early purchase valid from 1 January

Vignettes bought during the early purchase period this December will take effect on 1 January 2026, ensuring uninterrupted motorway access for motorists, NÚSZ reports.

2026 toll prices for cars

According to NÚSZ’s published fee table, prices for next year are as follows for D1 category vehicles:

  • Annual nationwide vignette: HUF 61,760 (EUR 162)
  • Annual county vignette: HUF 7,190 (EUR 19)
  • 10-day vignette: HUF 6,900 (EUR 18)
  • Monthly vignette: HUF 11,170 (EUR 29)
  • Daily vignette: HUF 5,550 (EUR 14)

The basic penalty for unpaid tolls will rise to HUF 27,790 (EUR 73), and if unpaid for more than 60 days, it will escalate to HUF 95,730 (EUR 250) for passenger cars.

Introducing the M1 regional vignette

A new option, the M1 regional e-vignette, has been launched to provide drivers with a cost-effective alternative during ongoing expansions of the M1 motorway. This measure aims to ease congestion and disruptions in the affected areas. The M1 regional pass is available to all drivers, not just those residing in the counties it covers.

For comparison, a D1 county vignette will cost HUF 7,190 in 2026. The total cost of four separate county vignettes would amount to HUF 28,760. The new M1 regional vignette, however, is priced at just HUF 15,000 and covers 4 counties, offering substantial savings.
