Ryanair launches 4 new routes and record Budapest summer schedule

Ryanair today (11th March) celebrates its record-breaking Summer 2025 schedule for Budapest, with over 640 weekly flights across 68 routes, including 4 exciting new destinations. This record schedule is a direct result of the Hungarian Government’s decision to scrap aviation taxes, which will see Ryanair invest 10 aircraft in Budapest (US$1 billion) this summer, supporting over 4,200 jobs.

Summer 2025 schedule will deliver:

  • 4 new routes – Castellón, Katowice, Liverpool, and Toulouse
  • 10 based aircraft (including 2x Boeing 737 8-200 “Gamechangers”) – a US $1 billion invest in Hungary
  • 5.6 million passengers p.a. (+13% growth)

Ryanair’s exciting growth follows the Hungarian Government’s decision to abolish its aviation tax which has enabled Ryanair to deliver more traffic and routes to Hungary, whilst supporting tourism and offering citizens/visitors enhanced connectivity at Europe’s lowest fares. Hungary joins the list of countries including Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, and Albania which have successfully secured substantial traffic and aircraft investment from airlines after abolishing aviation taxes which will reduce access costs for citizens, tourists, and businesses.

The good work of the Hungarian Government however risks being undermined by opportunistic airport charge increases at Budapest Airport. This approach is at odds with the rest of Europe, where governments and airports work together to reduce access costs and increase air traffic – instead, the Hungarian Government gives with one hand and the Airport takes with the other. Ryanair calls on the Hungarian Government to ensure Budapest Airport aligns itself with Hungary’s pro-growth policies and economic objectives, by immediately reducing airport charges to stimulate further traffic growth at Budapest.

Should access costs be further reduced, Ryanair will respond with its €1.6bn Hungarian growth plan, which could potentially deliver up to 9 million passengers p.a. (across Budapest, Balaton, and Debrecen), 16 based aircraft and over 180 new highly-paid aviation jobs (480 total).

To celebrate its record Summer 2025 schedule and 4 new routes in Budapest, Ryanair has announced a seat sale with fares starting from HUF 7,919 to travel until the end of May, available exclusively at ryanair.com.
